Si seulement si... (If only If)

A wonderful Performance art in the 6BC Botanical gardens. (Sic street between Ave B and C)
I stumbled upon this piece slightly after dusk with company after we just biked Governors Island. This performance is why one should have a love for the East Village now and forever.

Nine girls dressed in eighteen hundreds farmers clothes converge in he center of this park as a mysterious bell tolls. This starts the performance. The park is light by L.E.D. flashlights and lanterns scattered about. The 'play' repeats itself twice and is meant to be a 'wandering' work. As the girls sing in there made up languages, they separate and frolic around the park. You are meant to follow them around to spy into there worlds of play. If your lucky they will spot you, a spectator and spin around you or give you a flower freshly picked.

One performer who had caught my my was Lindsay Abromaitis Smith, who is an puppeteer. Her strange brown man (pictured below) seams to fly and jump weightlessly around the commotion. The thing that makes me appreciate this even more is the fact that this young woman has had a bad streak of luck in the past several days. Do you remember that Tornado in Brooklyn? Well her house is one most affected by it, coming home from school Lindsay found massive damage in her apt. She knew something was wrong when she opened her bedroom door and looked up, and saw the sky! Literally, no debris and everything in her room was still there, but the nights sky was looking down upon her, the roof was pulled up and swept across the yard. She struggled to collect her things for the performance, and saved what she could while her home is being rebuilt. Because of the stress she got the flu. Yet two days later, was here in the gardens blowing my mind with the amount of personality that was coming out of her puppet!
This was the last show of the season, but there is talks of it returning for the spring season..
Se Seulement Si..(If only If)
"Is inspired by superstitions and strange habits that one can create when no logical answer can be found. Conceived as : game, each character follows their ritual of reality creating their own rules through random logic. every hidden corner of the botanical garden is transformed into an absurd poem of intentions. WE

We can see. Look how for we used to. The evolve shield is down.
Our leash to color link is broken. Wide eyes, run!
We take advantage. We escape even though we have to tear our red organ out.
We throw it on the ground and take off. Leave our shoes, feel the dirt between our toes again.
The more distance we travel away, we see we were always special.
We don't see when we are so close together.
We turn back, and we don't like what we see.
We get nervous.
We may break down, we may cry but we aren't dead.
Change, save our selves, we change.
We feel alive.
We crawl out of the womb again.
This time we smart, we know more than we did before.
We make sense. We know doubt and we know right from wrong.
We start dancing, we sit down, sometimes we wear a frown.
We look extremely good today, no we don't, but we are proud.
We make loud sounds, we live underground.
We all agree we don't understand, oh i think we just learned something today.
We make passion and we practice peace, we make the lightning under your sheets.
The job is not over, but we are done.
We had fun, we use words instead of gun.
Now we be serendipity. We chase night, we give way. We will find another way.
We are skilled, we make waves, we chase tails in the rain.
We will make people go insane. . .

Instinct

Your inset thoughts kept locked,
tight pore, scrunchy face, attitude.
Unreadable emotions though they mean, something
is defiantly blocked.
Scour, squint, tight cheeks these weeks.
Looking for buttons to press, I am unimpressed.
Answer the question, demands the seeker.
You fill my beaker to overflow, chemistry.
Responsibility, strains like sand, time slips.
Diligently, fatigue, surprise, my eyes, your thighs.
Open yourself completely, and never feel fear again.
Inset in your thoughts, there is no end...

Bloody Mary Xtra Dirty

As i get to the address i realize its the Hudson Hotel. Very cute for Good Units. I see young fashion faces and a few Trannys and concur that i am in the right place. Just as we are about to walk in I see a familiar face leaning against the wall smoking a cig. Its my home girl Alicia, excellent! me and Jackie pull her and drag her into the Hotel. Up the escalator we head the the one bar that i know. A few looks up and down but we were granted access. Its not before to long that i realize that maybe we are not at the right party. First of all its not crowded and second of all, i felt like the coolest person there, which i def shouldn't have been with my 1.99 black tank and my second hand black baseball pants. I ask the Host and she tells me the party I'm looking for is across the lobby, so i collect my girls like a goose collects her chicks and skip on over to the other bar. The music sounds better, but I'm confused with eh guest-list. I say 'Lady Fag', and she says Lady Tear? I'm like "no". I then say 'Bloody Mary' and she says, downstairs sweetheart, as she ushers me she whispers "your just in time" with a smile. Just in time? i think, well nice i was worried there for a moment, now i feel like Alice and wonderland.
We whisk down to the 3rd entrance and are respectfully greeted by a tall black veiled mistress (ANDREA or MARKUS), who says "hello babies!" and pushes us in. Down some more windy steps and alas we are in. The music is pumping and i start to see people dressed up in very classical black and whites almost King and Queen'ish.
The shows begin, the first a rockabilly Tranny (BASIL TWIST) cuts up her wife-beater to reveal her  plastic tits. Mouth full of Blood and is a little scary on purpose, she ends her bit with a public pissing from what i assume is her real penis, the crowd quickly withdraws and scatters. Some wild laughs and a few screams. Another act that stands out was the trio who wore sexy maroon fast food outfit's and danced very sync i might add with there thick thighs. Amanda Lapore had a Marylin Monroe song, that was under sung by herself and had an awkward walkout ending.
The Host SUSANNE BARTSCH was Vivacious and glamorous.
The shows start and very Endrogenous men and woman (THE DAZZLE DANCERS) take the stage and dance about including an almost naked team of men and woman who are dressed in torn trash bags and sync dance to a remix of 'teenage wasteland'. Beautiful. My friend Alicia pulls me to the stage and i start dancing with her know the whole party is looking at us, and it feels great!
The dancing was the most important part for me because i want to dance my fucking ass off and here i was doing it, ran into a couple of old raver friends from back in the day ('Moses', who used to fall asleep in Washington square park with cigarettes in his hand. And 'Mecca', who was not believed to be dead, obviously untrue and took his penis out on stage to prove it). So here we were 15 years later dancing it up!
I haven't had that kinda rush in a long time and, i don't even give a fuck who is watching me in the audience. This is what makes me so happy, being part of a great party and being noticed and respected! Meeting all the faces behind the costumes and dancing till my calves hurt!

Money: all in my pocket still, No Cover! 80$ still safe in the wallet. Friends: Right next to me Dancing. Future Husband: who knows, out there having a good time too. Priceless.
Jackie calls us to leave at about 2:30 which means we have only been there for a couple hours but it felt like all night long, my endorphins are running wild like buffalo! I consider it and say, good call, lets go while its still amazing. You always have to know when to leave a party... .

The Cab ride home Zig-Zags between SoHo, Tribeca, and Brooklyn as we gab about the sights and sounds and plan our next venture, Halloween!
